THIRUVANANTAPURAM: British artist Luke Jerram's stunning seven-meter-wide replica of the full moon captivated audiences at the Science fest held at Kanakakunnu. Crafted from images captured by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, the installation showcased intricate details of the lunar surface, unveiling craters, valleys and the hidden far side not visible from Earth.

This awe-inspiring exhibit weighing 40 kilograms and standing at ten feet tall, suspended by a crane and filled with helium gas, drew in crowds as lights dimmed around 6:30 pm. Illuminated solely from within the moon installation became the focal point, a mesmerizing sight for all.

Accompanied by a captivating background score composed by BAFTA award-winning musician Dan Jones, the moon exhibit offered a unique perspective allowing viewers to experience every centimeter representing five kilometers of the actual lunar surface.

Organized by KSCSTE, the Department of Science and Technology and Museum Art Science, the Science Festival featuring this incredible installation runs from January 24th to February 15th. The program was inaugurated online by Minister KN Balagopal.
