THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A mother has found her son who had gone missing eight years ago from the capital. Kalidevi, a native of West Bengal, reunited with her son Rajesh Das at the Oolampara Mental Health Centre. The mother, son and relatives boarded the train for Bengal on Monday. The mother got back her son as a result of UST Global's volunteer work.
Rajesh Das did not go to school much because of mental health problems. In 2015, at the age of 22, he left home without telling anyone. After roaming around, he reached a railway station, which is 25 km away, and boarded the train he saw in front of him. Rajesh Das has no memory of where he was after that. His family searched for him all over Gujarat and Delhi. He reached the mental health centre in Thiruvananthapuram two years ago.
Volunteers of UST Global visit here occasionally. Those who speak other languages will also be present in the group and they chat with non-keralities to get details. While talking to Rajesh Das, they got a clue about his native place and the family. The results of the subsequent investigation are what united him with his family.
