Did not withdraw sexual assault complaint; accused throws acid on victim's daughter before committing suicide

NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, an accused in a rape case threw acid on the 17-year-old daughter of the victim before committing suicide by drinking acid. The incident took place within the limits of Anand Parbat police station in Delhi on Thursday morning. The deceased is Prem Singh, a 54-year-old who had been in jail for sexually assaulting the girl's mother.

Police said that the girl suffered only minor injuries. After getting released on bail, the accused went to the house of the child on Thursday morning and asked her mother to withdraw the rape complaint against him. However, the girl's mother stopped him at the entrance and refused to withdraw the complaint. Angered by this, the accused took a bottle of acid and poured it on the complainant's daughter. He then drank the acid from the same bottle. The incident took place as a trial was about to begin on the woman's complaint. Upon learning about the incident, the police reached the spot and took further steps.
