KOLLAM: Padma Kumar and his family, who kidnapped a six-year-old girl from Oyoor, were also setting up a honey trap. The police got the information from the notes written by his wife Anitha Kumari and daughter Anupama.

The family had planned to find senior citizens living alone and grab their gold. They had gone to various places to find them and had taken the details of their necklaces, bangles and earrings. A plan was prepared for the fraud, saying that there were incidents of sexual exploitation of children and that if they wanted to settle it, they would have to pay money. The route to and from each place was drawn and kept. The information of children and homes was collected and kept for kidnapping.

On the day the child was abducted, the accused roamed around in various places. They reached home around 7 pm. After making the child sit with Anupama, Padma Kumar and Anitha Kumari went out, bought food and household items. After returning home and watching TV, they knew the child's abduction has become a big news. After that, they had planned to return the child.

The crime branch team had the other day taken the accused to the farm house in Polachira. The police took out only the second accused Anitha Kumari (39) from the van. First accused K R Padma Kumar (52) and daughter Anupama (20) of Kavitharaj at Mampallikunnam in Chathannoor were made to sit in the vehicle.

Some parts of the six-year-old girl's notebook were found near the dogs shed at the back of the three-and-a-half-acre farm. In addition, the investigation team recovered the burnt remains of the school bag and her instrument box. Anitha Kumari explained the things that happened on the day of the incident while collecting evidence lasting for more than one and a half hours. Evidence was collected by fingerprint experts and forensic team. Some materials have been collected from the farm for scientific testing.
