THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 28th International Film Festival celebrated remarkable achievements in cinema. 'Evil does not exist', a Japanese film clinched the prestigious 'Suvarna Chakoram' for Best Film while Uzbekistan's Shokir Kholikov claimed the 'Rajatha Chakoram' for Best Director with his film 'Sunday'.
Malayalam film 'Thadavu' secured the Popular Film award while 'Attam' directed by Anand Ekarshi triumphed with the Netpac Award for Best Malayalam Film.
Shokir Kholikov, director of 'Sunday' not only secured the Rajathachakoram for Best Director but also clinched the Netpac Award for Best Asian Film marking his debut feature film.
Films such as Spanish director Felipe Carmona's 'Prison in the Andes' and Shruti Saranyam's 'B32 to 44' received accolades with the former winning the FIPRESI award for Best Competition Film and the latter earning Shruti Saranyam the FIPRESI Award for Best Malayalam Debut Director.
Uttam Kamathi's 'Kerwal' earned recognition winning the FFSI - KR Mohanan Award for Best Debut Director in India. Notably, the sound design of the Mexican film 'All the Silence', crafted by Miguel Hernandez, Mario Martin and Liliana Villasener clinched the award for Sound Design.
The festival also honored Polish director Krzysztof Sanusi with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his substantial contributions to cinema, presented by Adoor Gopalakrishnan.
