Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh; CRPF SI killed, constable injured

RAIPUR: A sub-inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was martyred in an encounter between security personnel and Maoists in Chhattisgarh. A constable was injured. SI Sudhakar Reddy was martyred in the early morning encounter in Sukma district today.

The Maoists and the personnel of the 165th Battalion of the CRPF had an encounter in Jagargunda police station area. The incident took place at 7 o'clock this morning when the battalion was going from Bedre camp to Ursangal village. Officials informed that the injured constable has been shifted to hospital for specialist treatment and four people have been arrested from the spot. The search for others is in progress.

Authorities are likely to conduct a detailed probe into the attack and look into the circumstances that led to the firing and subsequent loss of life of the CRPF SI.
