Injured Youth Congress workers approach court against CM's gunman Anil

ALAPPUZHA: Youth Congress and KSU leaders, who were brutally beaten by police officials including CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s gunman, approached the court after the police refused to register a case on this account.

Youth Congress State General Secretary Adv. Ajay Jewel and KSU district president A.D. Thomas filed the petition in Alappuzha Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. The petition calls for a case under IPC 294B, 326,324 against the chief minister's gunman Anil and security officer Sandeep. Further action will be taken after the hearing.

The incident happened on the 16th of December when the NKS bus ferrying the CM and other ministers was on its way to Ambalapuzha constituency from Alappuzha. The two congress workers were protesting near the general hospital junction when the police interrupted and dragged them to the sidelines. However, at this point, even shocking the police officials, the CM’s gunman and a bevvy of other security officers thronged into the scene and started badly beating the congress workers with a stick.

Thomas suffered a head injury while Ajay Jewel's hand was broken in the melee.

Both filed a complaint with the South Police, but no case was registered. The two alter approached the district police chief, who asked for a report from the south police on the issue. South Police while responding said that the lathi-charge on the congress workers was unavoidable.
