ADIMALI: Mariyakutty of Adimali responded after the government informed the high court that the plea filed against the non-disbursal of widow pension was politically motivated. Mariyakutty said that if Veena Vijayan, daughter of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, can accept monthly payment, why can’t I ask pension that I am entitled to. Mariyakutty said pension was not given to anyone, I am asking for five months pension.
'I have not gone to accept monthly payment; I am asking for the pension I am entitled to. The pension was not given to anyone and am asking for five months pension. A good Christmas is coming, we also wish to have good food including chicken curry. Why saying it is politically motivated. Pinarayi's aides are playing politics.
'Saying that I am a Congress woman, I don't need Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's permission. I don't want any certificate for it. I will go to my favourite party. Don't try to stop it. No one should come to teach us politics. We are all suffering. Can't buy anything from a shop. The prices of all items are soaring. There are no items in Maveli Store and ration shops. After Pinarayi started this pleasure journey, no one is able to walk on the road,’ she said.
Meantime, the high court had rapped the government on Mariyakutty's plea. The court said the government has money to spend on celebrations, but no money to pay widow pension. Does the government cancel any celebration due to lack of money? The government should give pension to Mariyakutty. If that is not possible then should bear their expenses for three months. Justice Devan Ramachandran said that at least money for medicine and food should be paid.
