628 covid cases reported in single day in country; 128 cases in Kerala; one minister also infected

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the last 24 hours, 628 people, including a minister, have been diagnosed with Covid in the country. According to the information provided by the Union Health Ministry, 628 new cases have been reported in the country. The total number of active cases stands at 4054. The only covid death in the country last day was in Kerala. Union Health Ministry informs that 128 new covid cases have been confirmed in the state. One death was also reported.

The number of active cases in Kerala has reached 3128. So far, 4.50 crore people have been diagnosed with Covid in the country. 4.44 crore people have recovered from the disease. Of the reported cases, 63 are new variants of Covid. Goa, where 34 cases have been detected so far, has the highest number of patients infected with the new variant.

Nine in Maharashtra, eight in Karnataka, six and four each in Kerala and Tamil Nadu and two in Telangana were found to have the JN1 variant. One minister in Maharashtra has also been confirmed to be infected with Covid. Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde was diagnosed with the disease. At the same time, Karnataka has started covid awareness in Talapady check-post, Saradka of Bantwal, Swarga of Puttur, Sulliapadavu, Jalsoor check-post of Sullia in Dakshina Kannada district, which shares the border with the state. It is also suggested that students coming from Kerala should be tested immediately if symptoms are detected.
