Theatre veteran Prasanth Narayanan of Chayamukhi fame dies aged 51

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Renowned theatre director and play writer Prasanth Narayanan passed away on Thursday. He was 51. Prasanth breathed his last in General Hospital Thiruvananthapuram at around 1:30 pm on Thursday. He was under treatment for pulmonary issues.

His storied career spans 30 years in theatre where he shone both as a writer and an actor. However, the critical praise reached Prasanth in 2008 when he directed actor exemplary Mohanlal in his drama titled Chayamukhi, which was well received.

In 2003, he received the Kerala Sangeetha Akademi Award for Best Playwriting. He is a native of Vellayani, Thiruvananthapuram. Most of his writing concentrated on women empowerment issues and the contemporary troubles affecting Kerala.
