Malayalam actress and dancer Tara Kalyan has ignited a heated debate on social media with her recent comments made at a public event. Kalyan, known for her roles in movies, serials and dance performances shared her perspective on life after the passing of her husband sparking both support and criticism online.

During the event, she expressed, "After my daughter's father passed away, I've been living independently. I find joy in this newfound freedom. I'm unsure if it's right or wrong to say this, but I've never truly experienced this level of independence before. Although I had a wonderful family and husband, life was primarily dedicated to fulfilling commitments. Now, after six years, life is moving at a different pace, and it feels good.

However, this is my personal journey and I don't advocate for everyone to follow suit. Everyone finds happiness in their own way. Having choices in life is essential for everyone, whether it's a woman, man or child." Nevertheless, Kalyan's remarks received backlash with some people expressing dissatisfaction with her viewpoint.

Criticism centered around the perception that her words disregarded the sacrifices made by her late husband and the traditional role of a devoted spouse. "Words like these are unacceptable; it's not fair to suggest that everyone should experience widowhood," commented one social media user. However, others defended Kalyan highlighting that her message spoke to the broader issue of women losing themselves in familial responsibilities.
