Unseen footage, new edit and new cinema experience; 'Devadoothan' to be re-released soon

‘Devadoothan’, the paranormal movie released back in 2000, failed to make any impact at the box office; a mystery forever for ardent moviegoers. Veteran director Sibi Malayil in the umpteen interviews related to the movie has revealed the movie's failure as his greatest ever ache, which he mentioned still hurts him.

And now, in a bid to make a course correction, the director is all set to rerelease Mohanlal’s cult movie which now has amassed an esoteric fan base. According to details, this will not be the version seen on television, but a detailed re-editing is in the process. Sibi Malayil in many interviews has opened up about his dream project of re-editing the movie in congruence with the script. It is expected that more unseen footage of the film will be included in the newer version.

In 2023, Mohanlal’s popular movie 'Spadikam' was rereleased in theatres which received an extraordinary response from fans and audiences. Even other movies released with the ‘Spadikam’ rerelease fell behind in collections.

The crew behind Devadoothan expects the rerelease to draw huge crowds to the theatre. The makers have already promised to make the visuals 4k; so as to give the audience one more chance to witness the magnificent frames in theatres.
