Sixty tickets in five years; expatriate wins 44 crore rupees through big ticket

ABU DHABI: A non-resident Indian won 44 crore rupees in the big ticket draw held as part of the New Year. Munavar Fairooz, a taxi driver in Al Ain, UAE, is the lucky winner. Fairooz became the jackpot winner in the Big Ticket draw held on December 31, which was the 259th draw of Big Ticket.

Fairooz has been taking tickets every month for the past five years. Fairooz told the media that he was surprised to know that he was the winner of the big ticket this time. He said that he still can't believe how lucky he was and bought the ticket by collecting money from 30 people.

Apart from Munavar Fairooz, about 10 people from countries like Palestine, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia also received 22 crore rupees as prize money. On the same day, another Indian named Suthesh Kumar Kumaresan was selected as the fourth weekly e-draw winner. Suthesh received around two crore rupees. He is an engineer with Etihad Airways and lives in Abu Dhabi.
