CHANDIGARH: Enforcement Directorate conducted a search at the house of Congress MLA Surendra Panwar in Haryana. The search began on Thursday at the house of Panwar, who is also a miner. The houses of his associates were also searched.
The inspection was conducted by twenty ED officers who came in six vehicles. 5 crore rupees worth of currency was seized from here. In addition, 300 guns, more than 100 liquor bottles and five kilograms of gold biscuits were seized. Phones of the MLA's family members and employees are also among the seized items. ED also raided the house of Indian National Lok Dal Party's former MLA Dilbagh Singh and his associates.
The ED investigation is related to the 2013 money laundering case. ED conducted inspections at 20 centres in Yamunanagar, Sonipat, Mohali, Faridabad, Chandigarh and Karnal. The Haryana Police had registered a case for continuing rock, gravel and sand mining in Yamunanagar and nearby districts even after the National Green Tribunal banned it. ED also registered a case following this.
