NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni has accused his former business partners of cheating him out of more than 15 crore rupees. Dhoni filed a complaint in the Ranchi court against Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwas of Arca Sports and Management Limited alleging discrepancies in a 2017 business transaction.
In 2017, Diwakar had entered an agreement with Dhoni to establish cricket academies in India and overseas using Dhoni's name. However, Diwakar failed to fulfill the terms of the agreement despite repeated attempts by Dhoni including legal notices. Consequently, Dhoni terminated the contract with Arca Sports on August 15, 2021.
The complaint asserts that Arca Sports did not uphold the agreement's terms by withholding the franchise fee and agreed-upon profits. Even after the contract termination, the partners allegedly proceeded to establish academies under Dhoni's name breaching contractual norms and causing Dhoni an alleged loss exceeding 15 crores.
