Man taken into police custody after extorting lakhs for college seat by posing as bishop

ADOOR: The Adoor police have taken into custody the fourth accused in the case pertaining to extorting lakhs from a person by offering a seat in Vellore Medical College by posing as a bishop. The said individual has been identified as Paul Gladson (53), a resident of Anna Nagar in Chennai, was taken into custody from the Adoor court. As per the case, Sreelakshmi Priya S Pillai, a native of Adoor's Parakkode, was cheated of Rs 59 lakh by saying that she would get a seat in Vellore Medical College in 2022.

Thrissur West Police had arrested him on June 7 in a similar case. The first and second accused are absconding. The third and fifth accused were arrested earlier. The fraudster introduced himself as the Anglican bishop in charge of the college. He used to make people believe that the college was under his charge. The police said that he had stolen more than Rs 10 crore from various districts of the state. Apart from Adoor station, there are also cases against him in Koratty, Angamali, Pandalam and Pala stations. Adoor SHO R Rajeev and SIs Prashanth and CK Raghunath are leading the investigation.
