PATHANAMTHITTA: The police aim to obtain permission for DNA testing after a mix-up led to the cremation of an unidentified deceased person found near Aryattukavala, Nilakkal. The confusion arose when the body, initially presumed to be that of Raman Babu was cremated in Manjathode tribal colony. However, it was later discovered that Raman Babu aged 75 was alive and well shocking his family and locals upon his return.
Nilakkal police explained that Raman Babu's seven children had erroneously identified the deceased body leading to its burial in Manathara Manjathode Colony. Initially suspected to have succumbed to an elephant attack, a post-mortem examination revealed the actual cause of death as a heart attack. However, the deceased person remains unidentified.
To rectify this situation, permission from the RDO is required to exhume the body for further investigation, a process set to commence today. Raman Babu, known for his affinity towards nature and wandering through forests learned of the mistaken identity upon encountering a forest watcher named Manu in Kokkathode. He had returned home after hearing the news of his own demise.
The revelation of this mistaken identity has prompted the authorities to pursue DNA testing to correctly identify the deceased person and ascertain their true identity.
