AYODHYA: Apart from the main idol of Ram Lalla installed inside the Ayodhya temple, pictures of two other Rama idols have surfaced on the internet. Among them, an idol carved in a black granite is now going viral. The sculptor is Ganesh Bhatt, a native of Karnataka. The idol is carved from Krishna Shila, a black granite collected from a farm in the Heggadadevankote area of Mysore.
Among the three idols, Ram Lalla sculpture by Mysore-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj was chosen as the main deity. Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Temple Trust officials informed that the other two idols will be installed in different parts of the temple.
Meanwhile, Ramlalla, the main deity of the temple, is made of 2.5 billion-year-old black granite. HS Venkatesh, an official of the National Institute of Rock Mechanics, told the media that the 51-inch tall Ramlalla will remain intact for a thousand years. He has already clarified that the differences in weather will not adversely affect the idol.
