Indian expat wins Rs 8 cr in lucky draw in Dubai

RIYADH: An Indian expatriate won one million dollars (8,31,20,200 crores) in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw. The fortunate man is Edward George (53), a native of Hyderabad, who has been working in Saudi Arabia for many years. The 448th draw of the Millennium Millionaire draw was held at Dubai International Airport's duty free.

Edward works as an IT company official in Riyadh. George, who has been working in Riyadh for the past 26 years, has been regularly participating in the Millennium Millionaire draw for about five years. Ticket number 2270 won the lucky prize. Edward added that he bought the ticket online on January 11 and is happy to be the lucky one.

"I have been waiting for luck for a long time. I didn't lose hope and finally got lucky. The prize money will be set aside for my son's education. I will sent my son to study abroad," he said. Edward George is the 23rd Indian to win the Millennium Millionaire draw since 1999.

Com McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman of Duty Free, Ramesh Sidambi, COO, Salah Tahlak, Joint COO and others were also present at the draw. Meanwhile, in the draw, 63-year-old Syed Ahmad Safdar Ali, who lives in Sharjah, was awarded a Mercedes Benz S500 car. He is a native of Afghanistan. Safdar took the ticket on January 2.
