NEW DELHI: As the political drama continues in Bihar, Chief Minister and JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar may rejoin the BJP-led NDA front today. Reports said there will be an announcement today. Nitish himself will continue as the chief minister. It is reported that JDU-BJP have agreed to remain in the present stand till the next elections. It is also reported that Nitish will be given the post of NDA convener from 2025. Sources said that a meeting of JDU MLAs will be held at 10 am today.
Sushil Modi and Renu Devi will be deputy chief ministers. BJP will hold the post of Speaker and the posts that were handled by RJD. It is suggested that Nitish will meet the Governor and claim to form the government and will take oath as chief minister again today or tomorrow. Nitish is going to take oath as chief minister for the ninth time.
JD(U) leaders and MLAs held a meeting at Nitish Kumar's official residence in Patna last night. Meantime, RJD leaders held a meeting and entrusted party president Lalu Prasad Yadav to take a decision on the matter. Reports are that RJD will ask Nitish to prove his majority if he jumps to the other side.
The NDA is confident that Nitish Kumar's JD (U) has 45 MLAs, BJP has 78 and Hindustani Awam Morcha secular party's four MLAs have secured the support of 127 MLAs. The support of 122 MLAs is required to form the government.
