THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister PA Mohammed Riyas took an indirect dig at Kadakampally Surendran MLA who criticized the road development in the state capital. Riyas said that some people got annoyed when the contractor was fired and that the public would not believe whatever these people said. The Minister was speaking after inaugurating the construction of the Mudavanmugal bridge connecting Pappanamcode Estate Road and Mudavanmuhal in Nemom constituency.

According to the minister, some people with certain interests did not like it when the contractor was fired. He also said that the roads would be completed by March 31.

"Road renovation is a long time need. The Public Works Department is in charge of the work of 63 roads. The traffic problem is due to the ongoing work. There were lapses on the part of the previous contractor. Although we tried to correct it several times, it didn't work. The contractor worked with an attitude that he could do anything he wanted. If the contract was not distributed among various contractors, the work would not get completed on time," he said.

The other day, Kadakampally Surendran had criticized that the roads of the capital have been in a poor state for years and the residents of the capital city have been imprisoned for years in the name of development projects.
