Captured nude pictures of school student, sexually assaulted her after giving alcohol; woman once again sentenced to rigorous imprisonment

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman was once again sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a school student. Veeranakavu native Sandhya (31) was sentenced by Kattakkada fast-track POCSO court Judge S Ramesh Kumar. Sandhya is currently serving a sentence in three POCSO cases.

The court sentenced her to rigorous imprisonment for nine and a half years and a fine of Rs 40,000 in various sections. The fine should be handed over to the survivor. Sandhya will have to undergo an additional rigorous imprisonment for seven months if she fails to pay the fine. Special Public Prosecutor Adv. DR Pramod appeared for the prosecution.

The incident related to the case took place in 2016. Sandhya sexually assaulted the girl when the girl came to her relative's house during the school holidays. Sandhya sexually assaulted the girl after befriending her by visiting the house frequently. Later, she captured the nude pictures of the girl while she was taking a bath and threatened to circulate the pictures if she did not hand over the gold chain around her neck. Another day, she and her friend picked up the girl from her school on a scooter and took her to a house in Aruvikkuzhi. She then sexually assaulted her after giving the girl liquor. The second accused in the case had died during the trial.

A few days ago, Sandhya was convicted by the Kattakkada POCSO court in another case. Alappuzha District Court had also convicted Sandhya in another case. Sandhya is serving punishment in these cases.
