THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After the revolt against the finance minister for his misplaced considerations while allotting money, Supplyco in one drastic measure decided to close the outlets where the sales are very low.

With the government not in any mood to pay the required money, the board meeting of the Civil Supplies Corporation also decided to close the Maveli stores experiencing low sales. The minister of the food department has been informed about this move.

There are a total of 1630 outlets undergoing business of Rs 2-2.25 crores. In a new move, Supplyco fancies starting supermarkets and stores inside popular malls.

Only Rs 10 crore was allotted to Supplyco in the state budget. Food Minister GR Anil then expressed strong displeasure against the neglect as he had complained earlier in the cabinet meeting about the non-allocation of money to Supplyco.

G R Anil, who arrived in Delhi on Tuesday, will hold talks with Union Minister Piyush Goyal. The aim is to achieve more ration rice allocation to Kerala.
