KOCHI: The court found Riyas Aboobacker guilty in the case of planning a suicide attack in Kerala. The NIA court in Kochi pronounced the verdict in the case. The verdict of the court is in the context of the UAPA sections 38 and 39 and IPC section 120B proved against him.
Riyas has been charged for spreading the ideology of a terrorist organization, working with ISIS and conspiracy. He was arrested in 2019 while collecting explosives to carry out a suicide attack. According to the information of the NIA, Riyas planned the suicide attack on the instructions of Abdul Rasheed Abdullah, who went to Afghanistan from Kerala and joined the ISIS.
The investigation team had received Abdul Rasheed’s phone messages and audio clippings from Riyas’ phone. Mohammad Faisal, a native of Kollam and Aboobacker Siddique, a native of Kasaragod, who were arrested along with him, later turned approvers in the case. Riya's hearing in the verdict will be held tomorrow.
