NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said Kerala’s protest in Jantar Mantar will become a red letter in the history of the republic of India. He was addressing the protest organized in the national capital against the neglect of the central government. Pinarayi Vijayan added that there is no doubt that this protest will become a decisive one in the history of India.

‘Many national leaders have come to support the protest. There are many more to come. There is no doubt that this struggle will turn out to be a decisive one in the history of India itself. Democracy is all about holding states together. This protest is also to take the relationship with the central government in a proper manner.

Hence, this day will become a red letter in the history of the Republic of India. The central government is indifferent to the opposition states. The federal system needs to be preserved. For the last few years, the central government has been obstructing the smooth functioning of many states and various sectors. He said that the Center is unnecessarily interfering in the financial affairs of the states.

‘As far as Kerala is concerned, there are three types of deficiencies. First, the share of the state in the total income of the country is continuously limited. The Union Government unilaterally decides the issues for consideration of the finance commission. The proposals of the states are not included in them. After each Finance Commission, Kerala's taxes are falling sharply.

The center often does this by pointing out the achievements of Kerala in the fields of health and education. Kerala is a state that has achieved good results in population control. But this achievement has become a punishment for Kerala itself. Shares are reduced in the name of achievement. If we want to protect the problems of the new generation, we need money. Center is not ready for that. Punishment for achievement. This is a phenomenon that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world,' clarified Pinarayi Vijayan.
