Ganesh Kumar warns officials of motor vehicle department, action against agent if seen near officers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar issued a warning to the officials of the motor vehicle department of the state. The minister said there are cameras in all RT offices and strict action will be taken if any agent is seen standing near the officials. While watching a video from Malappuram recently saw an agent looking at the file on the officer's desk. No agent will be allowed to go inside the counter anymore. Ganesh also explained that if anyone enters, the officer will be terminated.

‘Ganesh Kumar is not only the minister of KSRTC, but also the minister of private buses. More private buses are needed in Kerala. There were about 32,000 private buses in 2001-2002. In 2006, it was close to 40,000. However, now it is only 7,000 buses. This is due to the competitive race between private bus and KSRTC. Both are badly hit because of this race. The Kottayam-Kumily Road is not being utilised. Let private buses operate services. A system will be introduced to bring public transport to every nook and corner of Kerala,’ clarified the minister.

Meantime, the minister also spoke about KSRTC in a function held in Thiruvananthapuram the other day. He mentioned to solve the issues in KSRTC and make it run smoothly in two and a half years.

‘Ten percent employees of KSRTC are trouble makers. The remaining 90 percent are hard workers. The biggest problem bothering the workers is that they misuse the money they get. If that is solved, KSRTC can function smoothly. A software will be brought to support KSRTC. Permission has been obtained from the chief minister for this,’ said Ganesh Kumar.
