Death toll rises to two in Thrippunithura blast; 55-year-old man succumbs to death

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One more victim of the explosion at the firecracker storage facility in Thrippunithura Puthiyakavu has passed. Divakaran (55), who was undergoing treatment for serious injuries, died. Vishnu, a resident of Ulloor, Thiruvananthapuram, who was injured in the blast, had died earlier. With this, the death toll in the explosion has increased to two. Divakaran, who underwent emergency surgery at Kalamassery Medical College, succumbed to death around 7 pm.

Anil (49), a native of Kollam Parippally, also underwent emergency surgery. Madhusudhan (60), Adarsh ​​(29) and Anandan (69) are also undergoing treatment in Burn ICU. Kalamassery Medical College Superintendent Dr Ganesh Mohan informed that a special medical board headed by expert doctors has been formed and treatment is being made available.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission has registered a case in the incident. The Human Rights Commission also ordered that the District Collector and the Ernakulam City Police Commissioner conduct an inquiry into the blast and submit a report within 15 days.
