Third discussion between Union Ministers and farmers' organizations fails; discussion again on Sunday evening

kk

NEW DELHI: The third round of dialogue between the Union Ministers and leaders of the farmers' organizations has also failed. The five-hour-long discussion ended this morning. Union Minister Arjun Munda announced that the discussion will be held again at 6 pm on Sunday.

Apart from Arjun Munda, Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Nityanand Rai also participated in the discussion on the Haryana-Punjab border. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was also with them.

Bhagwant Mann said that each issue was discussed in detail and a consensus was reached on some issues. Discussions were held between farmers' organizations and Union ministers on February 8 and 12.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at the Delhi border. Delhi Police has ordered 30,000 teargas shells in the wake of the agitation. The authorities have decided not to allow farmers to enter Delhi under any circumstances.

A clash had taken place between police and farmers at the Shambhu barrier on the Haryana-Punjab border yesterday as well. Tear gas was fired. The Haryana government informed the Haryana-Punjab High Court that the farmers are armed and the agitators intend to disrupt traffic on the national highway.
