NEW DELHI: Congress MP Manish Tewari joining BJP is ‘baseless’ and ‘unfounded’, remarked the Congress MP’s office. On Sunday morning, rumours surfaced about Tewari conducting talks with BJP for a switch to the saffron side, also accepting the lucrative offer to contest from the Ludhiana constituency in Punjab. Tewari’s office later turned down the rumour and came up with an explanation.

“Speculations about Manish Tewari joining BJP are baseless. He is in his constituency monitoring the development work there. He stayed at a Congress worker's house last night," the MP's office said.

Rumours surrounding Manish Tewari surfaced on Sunday amidst lengthy discussions about congress veteran Kamal Nath joining the BJP. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari said that rumours of Kamal Nath joining the BJP are baseless and unimaginable.

Earlier, it was said that Kamal Nath and his son were all set to begin their new political tryst with BJP after breaking ties with Congress. It was speculated that Kamal Nath would join the BJP before Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Nyay Yatra’ enters Madhya Pradesh on March 3.
