Drunk youth provokes elephant; runs in fear and stops at owner's house

KOLLAM: An elephant, which was brought for a temple festival, ran amok. The incident happened at Chirakkara in Kollam. Chirakkara Deva Narayanan, brought for Ezhunnalluppu at the Chirakkara Devi Temple ran amok. A youth, who was drunk provoked the elephant and it immediately ran amok while trying to prevent the youth’s act. Finally, it stopped after reaching his owner’s house. The elephant which ran for 100 meters was chained later.

An elephant went on the rampage during an offering at Changaramkulam Chiravalloor Chandanakudam. The incident happened at Cheravallor Centre. The elephant ran amok when decorations from various parts were coming as part of the offering. One sustained injury in a fall from the elephant. The elephant named Pulloot Kannan ran amok early morning at 1 am.


One on top of the elephant sustained injuries in that fall. The other two fled to safety. There were many people there. People panicked when the elephant ran on the road. More police reached the spot. The elephant then entered a nearby land and after an hour, the mahouts jointly chained it there.
