Kerala police's daring squad from Aluva nab two men accused of major burglary from Rajasthan

ALUVA: Despite being fired at, the Kerala Police team nabbed two accused from Ajmer in Rajasthan for allegedly looting 48 sovereign jewellery and money from two houses in Aluva. Ajmer district police trainee Sharan Kamale Gopinath, who was accompanying the Kerala Police, sustained minor injuries. The Kerala police team miraculously escaped. Then the accused who tried to escape were caught with the help of Ajmer police. Two locally made guns were also seized.

The arrested have been identified as Shehjad (33) and Danish (23), natives of Rapururki, Uttarakhand. Aluva SI SS Sreelal, CPOs NA Muhammad Ameer, VA Afzal, Mahinsha Abubakar and KM Manoj were part of the Kerala Police team.

The incident took place at 9.30 pm on Tuesday in a crowded market near Ajmer Dargah Sharif. The Kerala team along with the Ajmer Police reached here after realizing that the accused were here. While trying to capture Shehjad, Danish took out a gun and opened fire. The accused then tried to run away but were cornered and caught.

The accused were produced before the Ajmer court and remanded. An application will be made to the court and the accused will be taken into custody and brought to Aluva. Ajmer police registered a case against the accused for firing and assaulting the police.

A special investigation team formed by Aluva Rural SP Dr Vaibhav Saxena went to Ajmer on Sunday. This was based on intelligence that the accused were there. 18 sovereign gold and Rs 12500 were stolen from the house of Muhammad Ali, a resident of Kuttamaseri on the night of February 9 and 30 sovereigns and Rs 20,000 were stolen from Babu's house in Moozhi opposite the Aluva Traffic Police Station on February 10th. It was learned from the CCTV footage that the accused are from other states.
