RANCHI: India is just 152 runs away from winning the fourth Test against England and clinching the series. Resuming the game at 220 for seven in the first innings on the third day, India was bowled out for 307 runs.
At one point, it appeared that India would concede a huge lead to England as the home side was struggling at 177 for 7. Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel (90) and Kuldeep Yadav (28) scored 76 runs for the eighth wicket to bring India back into the match. Despite falling ten runs short of a century, India's young wicketkeeper put up a valiant fight. Dhruv Jurel also shared a 40-run partnership with Akash Deep for the ninth wicket.
Coming to bat in the second innings with a lead of 46 runs, England had a poor start. The visitors lost 2 wickets for just 19 runs and were never able to recover from that. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (5/51) and left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav (4/22) shone with the ball for India as England was all out for just 145 runs. Zak Crawley scored 60 off 91 balls.
Chasing a target of 192 runs, India was 40 runs without losing a wicket at the end of the day's play. Rohit Sharma (24*) and Yashaswi Jaiswal (16*) are at the crease. Score: England 353, 145 India 307, 40-0
