KOTTAYAM: Referring to the Church Bill, Malankara Metropolitan of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Baselios Marthoma Mathews III on Sunday requested Governor Arif Mohammad Khan not to accept any law above the Supreme Court verdict if the Kerala government brings it. The Catholicos' request to the Governor came while Ministers Veena George and VN Vasavan were on the stage.

"The Church is ready for all peace talks. But attempts to destroy the foundation of the church will not be allowed. Those who think that they can destroy the unity of the Church by bringing the Church Bill are in fool's heaven. Don't try to scare the hunter's dog using percussion sounds", he said.

Governor Arif Muhammad Khan replied that everyone, including me, is bound to obey the law. He said that he has the responsibility to protect the law and the constitution and assured that it will be followed.
