KOLLAM: The mini flexboards and selfie point cutouts with Modi's picture on them provided by the Centre to be distributed through the ration shops are lying stagnant in the godowns of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) across the state. This is after the state government refused to distribute flexboards containing pictures of Modi to the ration shops.
Although the FCI Divisional Manager directed the District Supply Officers to procure these flexboards as soon as possible and distribute them to the ration shops, no action has been taken so far.
The flex board and selfie points were delivered to FCI godowns in a special truck from Haryana two weeks ago. Flexboards containing the 'Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana' logo and Prime Minister's image along with the tagline 'Modi's guarantee - food for all, nutritious society' were delivered on the heels of the National Food Security Act, which aims to create awareness about food security. The selfie cutouts have a picture of Modi's smiling face.
Last month, the Centre had written to the State Food Secretary to take steps to create awareness about free ration allocation by the Centre to 20 crore priority ration card holders. However, the state government has not yet responded in this regard.
