NEW DELHI: The state government has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Kerala High Court verdict quashing the disciplinary proceedings initiated against KTU former vice chancellor Ciza Thomas. In the appeal, it was pointed out that there was an error in the action of the High Court.
The government is of the view that Ciza Thomas, who was the senior joint director of the technological education department, assumed the charge of the VC without the government's recommendation as a breach of discipline. A show cause notice was also issued. However, the High Court ruled that the appointment was not illegal. Sisa Thomas has filed a restraining order in the Supreme Court asking that no decision be taken without hearing her side.
Ciza Thomas was given the interim charge of KTU VC after the Supreme Court quashed the appointment of former VC MS Rajashree. The action taken by the governor by rejecting the government's recommendation has led to controversies. Even though Ciza Thomas has retired, the government has withheld the pension benefits.
