KOCHI: The news coming from weather stations if you are looking for a 'normal' summer. The temperature will be among the highest in the country. As per a warning from the met department, the temperature is likely to rise again. This is due to the 'equinox' phenomenon when the sun is directly above the equator. This happens on March 22-23.
Temperatures may reach 37 to 40 degrees Celsius in all districts. The current temperature is 35-38 degrees Celsius. Last year, Kerala did not get much of monsoon, spring and winter. Moreover, the El Nino phenomenon and the temperature in the Arabian Sea are rising. Construction activities and cutting down trees are responsible for the current heat.
Hotter than hottest
The states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra will also be having an extra dry summer like Kerala. A yellow alert has been announced in 9 districts due to extreme heat. A yellow alert has been issued in Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kannur districts. Here, the temperature may rise up to 2-4 degrees.

The continuous high temperature is not only harmful to humans but also to animals and agriculture. Health experts say to avoid exposure to midday heat. Constant heat can cause sunburn and dehydration. With the increase in air temperature and road dust, diseases including cold have also increased.
