THRISSUR: Actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi said that he would campaign for the BJP in Thrissur even if he is not named the party's candidate in the constituency. He was talking to the media after taking part in temple ceremonies at the Guruvayur temple.

"I can speak about my candidature only after the party officially announces it. I won't say anything before that. Even if someone else is named the candidate in Thrissur, I will campaign for that person. I will be definitely in Thrissur. However, I'm sure that I'll get Thrissur. God will give it to me. That is my belief," Suresh Gopi said after serving food to the devotees who arrived at the temple

Meanwhile, the Central Election Committee meeting to approve the first list of BJP candidates for the Lok Sabha elections was completed yesterday at the party headquarters in Delhi. BJP state president K Surendran and BDJS leader Thushar Vellapally held talks with JP Nadda to take a final decision on the candidates in Kerala.

Union ministers and Rajya Sabha members S Jaishankar, Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal are also tipped to contest for the Lok Sabha.

The Delhi unit has proposed the name of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi, the sitting seat of Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi.
