THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The accused in the case of kidnapping of a two-year-old girl in Pettah, has been arrested. A special team led by the DCP arrested the accused from Kollam Sunday morning. He kidnapped the child with the intention of harming her, but when she cried, he covered her mouth. With this, the child felt unconscious and following that he abandoned her in the drain, the accused confessed to the police. The police hinted that the one arrested is a POCSO case accused and was released from jail two days before the abduction. The city police commissioner will reveal more about him in the press meet to be convened at 6 pm.

The child of a nomadic couple from Bihar was abducted two weeks ago by some strangers. After a 19-hour search, the child was found in the drain near Kochuveli railway station. However, the police were not able to find out those behind the act. The police had said that people having a relationship with the child were behind the kidnapping. The police also doubted whether the child's parents were natives of Bihar. The parents' non-cooperation with the investigation led to further suspicions.

The child went missing at 1 am. The child missing was Mary, daughter of nomadic couple Amardeep and Rabeena. The couple found their daughter missing when they woke up at 1 am. When they created an uproar, the residents of the area reached the police station and lodged a complaint. The police immediately started an investigation but the child was not found.
