No cash? No problem! Latest scheme for seamless travel in transport buses

-chennai-buses-no-cash

CHENNAI: Worry not if you are short of any cash while travelling in Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses. As part of new reforms, Chennai is adapting to newer ways which will enable passengers to make payments through UPI while travelling in buses.

The e-ticket system, which was started on an experimental basis, is being extended. The authorities believe that the introduction of the e-ticket system will attract more passengers. The Edict system facilitates the purchase of tickets using either a card or UPI. You can choose between Google Pay, Phone Pay and any other application to pay through UPI. Bus conductors will have a special machine for this purpose.

The edict system will turn into a big boon for bus passengers. There has been a long demand from passengers and the public alike about converting the mode of payment in buses, which will also help reduce the work stress for bus conductors.

As part of this, the scheme was implemented on an experimental basis on selected routes in the city. It was found to be successful and ergo, the project is all set for expansion.
