THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The remand report of the accused in the case of abduction of the child of a nomadic couple in Chakkai, is out. The report indicated a serious assessment that there was a possibility of the child to die. The remand report stated that the doctors had assessed that the child may have suffered neurogenic shock due to fear after abandoning her in a deserted place.

This assessment is in the remand report of the accused Hassan Kutty. The charge of murder attempt was also imposed on him on the grounds that the accused had covered the mouth and nose of the crying child which could have led to her death. The report also asserted that due to dehydration, the child's creatine and urea levels were high, so there was a possibility of the child's kidney failure and death. The remand report also stated that the accused abandoned the child in the drain with the intention of her to die.

The accused was arrested on the 13th day of the incident of abducting the two-year-old girl who was sleeping near Chakkai. Hassan Kutty alias Kabeer (52), an accused in many criminal cases and a native of Ayiroor in Varkala was arrested on Sunday early morning by a special shadow team led by Thiruvananthapuram DCP Nithin Raj.

He was released on bail on January 12 in the case of trying to sexually abuse an 11-year-old girl in Ayiroor in January 2022. CCTV footage and clues from the jail helped to nab the accused. He is an accused in eight cases including vehicle theft and house breaking. His arrest was registered after he was interrogated for 10 hours under the leadership of city police commissioner Nagaraju and ADGP MR Ajith Kumar.

He has been charged with attempt to murder, POCSO and kidnapping. He will be produced in the court today and remanded. He abducted the girl, who was sleeping with her parents near All Saints College on February 19. After a 19-hour long search, she was found abandoned in the drain near Kochuveli railway tracks.
