Priyanka Gandhi set to make debut from Rae Bareli, Rahul back in Wayanad; latest news from Congress camp

NEW DELHI: Priyanka Gandhi is all set to debut in the great Indian election with the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Priyanka is expected to contest from Rae Bareli, the party stronghold and the sitting seat of her mother Sonia Gandhi. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will probably contest from both Amethi and Wayanad. In the last election, Rahul suffered a shocking defeat to Union Minister Smriti Irani by more than 55,000 votes. Amethi was a congress stronghold where Rahul had won since 2002.

Earlier there were speculations that Priyanka would contest from Varanasi against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rae Bareli is currently the only seat available for Congress from Uttar Pradesh while the rest will be contested by other INDIA alliance parties. Priyanka decided on Rae Bareli after her mother Sonia Gandhi opted for Rajya Sabha leaving behind the congress bastion.

Meanwhile, the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra’ led by Rahul Gandhi is currently touring Madhya Pradesh ahead of the elections. The journey will enter Gujarat tomorrow. It is indicated that the official list of Congress candidates will be out by next week.
