KOLKATA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that the incidents that took place in Sandeshkhali will be a big blow to Trinamool Congress. Speaking at a women's rally in Barasat in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, the Prime Minister said that women in Bengal are facing great atrocities under the Trinamool Congress government.
"Whatever happened with women in Sandeshkhali is a matter of shame. Women are outraged. The outburst of their anger will not be restricted to Sandeshkhali only. It will trigger a 'Sandeshkhali storm' across Bengal. I can see the women power of Bengal has come out to destroy the mafia raaj of TMC. The state government does not care about the issues of the people. It is protecting those who tortured women," Modi said.
Modi also interacted with the women from Sandeshkhali. Sources close to the BJP said that the women told the Prime Minister about their plights and that Modi listened to them patiently like a father.
