Mother attempts to kidnap daughter from wedding hall, throws chilli powder at those who tried to obstruct her; video is out

AMARAVATI: In a dramatic incident, the relatives of a bride attempted to kidnap the bride from a wedding hall. The incident took place in East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. A video showing the relatives forcibly dragging the bride named Sneha from the wedding hall has surfaced on social media. The incident occurred at an auditorium in the Kadiam region where Sneha was supposed to get married to a youth named Battina Venkatanandu.

The video was recorded by a person who was present in the auditorium. The video shows Sneha being forcibly dragged out by her mother, brother and other relatives. Although some people tried to stop them from taking Sneha away, Sneha's mother threw chilli powder on their eyes. Later, the groom and his friends managed to thwart the abduction attempt. In the meantime, one of Venkatanandu's friends sustained a serious injury.

Police have registered a case against Sneha's family members under various criminal sections like assault, attempted kidnapping, gold theft etc. The reason behind the family trying to abduct the bride is still unclear. Kadiam Circle Inspector B Thulasidhar said that a case was registered against the bride's family on the complaint lodged by Venkatanand's family. The police said that a detailed investigation is going on in the matter.
