THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The finance department of Kerala confirmed the completion of salary distribution of the government employees in the state. The salary distribution of five and a quarter lakh employees was completed on Thursday. The salary disbursement, which normally takes just three days to complete was done this time in six days. At the same time, no decision has been taken to remove the treasury control.
The tension looming over the financial crisis was allayed only after the central government sanctioned Rs 13,609 crore loan to Kerala. The two-month arrear still mounting in the welfare pension will be completed by April of this year. The first set of the DA arrears of employees will be paid along with monthly salary in May.
In March, the expenditure for Kerala is about Rs 22,000 crores. The cost of a salary pension is 5600 crores. Along with this comes the additional burden of loan repayment, and expenses for local self-government. The government will demand another Rs 10,000 crore loan from the central government to meet all this purpose.
