First seamer to take 700 wickets in test cricket; James Anderson enters record books

DHARAMSHALA: England fast bowler and legend James Anderson reached the historic milestone of 700 wickets in test cricket. Anderson achieved the feat by dismissing Kuldeep Yadav in the first innings of the fifth Test against India. With this, Anderson became the first pace bowler to take 700 wickets. Only spinners Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne have crossed 700 wickets hallmark in test cricket history.

India was bowled out for 477 runs in the first innings with a lead of 259 runs. On the third day of the test, India lost the remaining two wickets while scoring just four runs. Rohit Sharma (103 off 162 balls), Shubman Gill (110 off 150 balls), Sarfaraz Khan (56 off 60 balls), Devdutt Padikkal (65 off 103 balls), Ravindra Jadeja (15 off 50 balls), Dhruv Jurel (15 off 24 balls), R. Ashwin (0) were the Indian batsmen dismissed on Friday. Rohit completed his 12th Test century from 154 balls.

After winning the toss and batting, England were all out for 218 in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav took five wickets. Meanwhile, R Ashwin, who is playing his 100th Test, took four wickets.
