'Made to sit in imaginary chair, semi-nude parading, and crucial testimony'; bone-chilling anti-ragging squad report

siddharthan-death-case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Anti-Ragging Squad report has brought into light some of the most harrowing crimes that Siddharthan had to endure before succumbing to a mystery-filled death. In the report, it is mentioned that Siddharthan was beaten up by a total of 18 people. The report has been prepared with the statements of 97 people. The inquiry report has been handed over to the UGC.

Anti-ragging report:

On February 15, Siddharthan who was on his way to visit his home in Thiruvananthapuram reached Kozhikode railway station along with two of his friends. However, he was called back to the hostel by his other friends saying it was an emergency. Siddharthan returned at 8 am on the 16th of February. On the same night, the heinous torture started as the gang took Siddharathan near a hilltop near the college to brutally beat him to a pulp and then later brought him near the water tank premise in the college.

Sinjo Johnson, who is believed to be the main accused, tortured Siddharthan the most. The seniors then made Siddharthan strip his clothes to stand only in his innerwear. He was later made to walk through the hostel corridor wearing just the innerwear. Many students have reported hearing screams during this time.

Siddharthan was later made to mop the floor. While he was into it, the seniors asked all other hostlers to come outside their rooms. Siddharthan was then taken to the courtyard of the hostel where the open trial took place. Siddharthan was forced to accept that he misbehaved with a female student of the college and was made to apologize in front of all. After this, the horrific torture started again in the courtyard premises in all public view.

The belt, glue gun and charger were used for injuring Siddharthan. Sinjo meanwhile pressed his fingers deep down Siddharthan’s chest and punched him several times leading to a knockout.

Not satiated with the inhumane crimes already committed, the seniors decided to test their infantile fancies on Siddharthan and made him sit in an imaginary chair. He was then taken to the dormitory on the first floor where the beating resumed.

There is a testimony about Siddharthan seen crying while in bed the next morning. There was a deep wound in the throat and nobody was ready to take him to hospital.

No one had seen Siddharthan since dawn on the 18th. Later into the day, one student who went to use the lavatory was shocked to see Siddharthan hanging from the window as he pushed the door ajar. Many students who tortured him on the previous day were also spotted near the toilet area when the death was reported first. In the hostel with a total of 130 people, more than 100 people testified not witnessing anything.
