NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation the strategically important Sela Tunnel built near the Line of Actual Control on the Chinese border in Arunachal Pradesh. It is the longest double-lane tunnel in the world. The Balipara-Chariduar-Tawang road in Arunachal Pradesh will be open for 365 days including extreme winters.
The Sela tunnel will help in the movement of troops and weapons on the India-China border. Heavy rains, snowfall and landslides used to disrupt traffic on this road regularly.
The Sela tunnel, whose foundation stone was laid by Modi in February 2019, was completed at a record speed, overcoming the obstacles of COVID-19. The Prime Minister said that Modi is not working for electoral gains but for the welfare of the country and its people.
