THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government on Tuesday issued an order granting lump sum dearness allowance to teachers, government employees and pensioners. In the order, it states that the DA of month April has been increased from 7 to 9 per cent and will be paid along with the salary of May. The order does not mention the payment of 39 months’ DA arrears due from January 2021.
Through this, the government will owe Rs 17,940 to the employees of the lowest cadre. Secretariat Action Council convener Irshad M proposed conducting agitation to achieve these stalled payments. Thibeen Neelambaran, Kerala Law Secretariat Association President Kumari Ajitha P, General Secretary Mohanachandran M. S, Kerala Legislature Secretariat Employees Organization President Shibu Joseph, General Secretary V. A. Binu also extended support to the decision.
