THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Muslim League and Samastha have raised a complaint against the date of the Lok Sabha elections in Kerala. In Kerala, the Lok Sabha election is scheduled to take place on April 26, Friday. Both the League and Samastha pointed out that the decision to hold the polls on Friday would cause inconvenience to the believers. The EK Samastha has demanded that the date of election in the state should be changed. Samastha President Jifri Muthukoya and General Secretary K Ali Kutty Musliyar sent an email to the Election Commission of India (ECI) raising this issue.
Conducting polls on Friday will create difficulties for Muslim voters and officials. The SKSF State Secretariat has requested the Election Commission to postpone the election date scheduled for April 26 as it will disrupt the Juma prayers of Muslim employees and booth agents.
The Muslim League also came out expressing disagreement with the ECI's decision to conduct polling on Friday. Muslim League General Secretary PMA Salam said that the move would create inconvenience to Muslim voters, officials assigned to election duty and polling agents.
