'I have never met Rajeev Chandrashekar, BJP candidates are strong but...'; E P Jayarajan answers allegations

KANNUR: LDF convener E P Jayarajan on Sunday denied outrightly the opposition's claim of him having business ties with union minister and BJP leader Rajeev Chandrashekar. Jayarajan fumed at the opposition leader for propagating lies and said he had never even met Rajeev in person nor had made any phone conversation with the union minister.

E P Jayarajan:

My statement about BJP fielding better candidates is to instil caution in the public. BJP will try any means to win seats from Kerala.

I am not a businessman like Satheesan and I have never met Rajeev Chandrashekar. I have seen him in paper and photos and that’s all. I don’t know why the opposition is adamant about creating a web of lies to connect a business link between me and Rajeev. My wife owns shares in a company, apart from that I have no business to boast about. If proved otherwise, I will sell all that to Satheesan’s wife.

Why would someone in the position of Leader of the Opposition say such baseless things? A private channel has been haunting me for a long and they have now created a fiction story to taint my name. I will file a case and I also request the government to intervene. The same news channel supplied factoids to Satheesan and now he is using it against me. Such fake news peddling should not be allowed in the state.

Meanwhile, E P Jayarajan ignored questions about PV Anwar's allegation that VD Satheesan had smuggled Rs 150 crore in a fish box.
